The collection includes letters to William Mentzel Forrest concerning the pageant performed for the centennial of the University of Virginia. Correspondents include Edwin Anderson Alderman, Emilie Watts McVea and Louise Burleigh Powell. Some letters are about the Pageant of Virginia by Thomas Wood Stevens, performed in Richmond, Va., in 1922. A newsclipping from the Christian Science Monitor, May 19, 1922, contains a review by Louise Burleigh of The pageant of Virginia. A newsclipping from the Washington Times, June 9, 1921, reviews a concert at the McIntire Amphitheatre by a "concert orchestra of symphonic proportions, specially organized and conducted by Herman C. Rakeman." In addition, there are 8 photographs of the McIntire Amphitheatre (one at night), rehearsals of the pageant at the Amphitheatre and the performance of the pageant at the Rotunda.
